Island is known for its beautiful gardens.
I wanted to show
the contrast of the freshness of the roses
against the
weathered clapboards of the cottage.
It is a picture of
abiding in the vine and the beauty that is produced
when you trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Monhegan Museum and Lighthouse II
The lighthouse keepers home is now the Monhegan Island Museum
where visitors can view artifacts of island life.
The granite lighthouse continues to faithfully shine it's light out to sea
to guide fishermen and sailors safely to harbor.

Favorite Chick
As a free range chick on Monhegan,
he
waddles around the yard pecking at the ground
as she goes about looking for a morsel to eat.
Always on the move, not a good model, but my favorite.

On Break
Sea
Gulls are fun to watch as they squabble over scraps
that villagers toss
to them, or as they soar so gracefully overhead,
or chase
fishing boats hoping for fish scraps to be tossed overboard.
I was captured this day by their respite from all their activities
as
some rested on the rocks basking in the sun while others preened
themselves.
I was seeing and capturing the quieter, restful side of their life.

Monhegan Lighthouse and Museum Sitting on top of
Monhegan Island, the Monhegan Lighthouse and Museum
overlooks the village below, Manana Island and the Atlantic Ocean
(towards the mainland).
It holds many artifacts unique to the island life.
The light is a beacon
to those at sea,
lighting the way in fog and the darkness of night or storm to safe harbor,
just
as Jesus, the Light of the world,
guides us "out of darkness into His marvelous
light".

Fog's Lifting
The weather of the day - rain and fog.
But as I set up to paint,
the fog started to lift and Manana Island came into view.
